Independence Day

Let's bring back a wonderful old tradition of ringing our bells on July 4th in recognition of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Bring any bell you have to our town common
on Thursday at 2 pm to show our love for our country and true spirit of freedom.  Next year we will be able to ring the actual bell in the meeting house tower, but for this year we will have to bring our own.

I hope as many of you as possible will be able to take a few minutes and come down. Rain or shine.

A brief note from the Planning Board:

As part of our continuing efforts in our Round 2 Community Planning Grant, we are fortunate to have the professional services of Maggie Stier from the NH Preservation Alliance and her consultant, Liz Hengen in town.  Starting today, July 1, as part of our work to define our village, they will be visible throughout the village trying to characterize its nature, its extent and the features that warrant protection/ preservation. Their work may include photographing key elements of the village. They will be meeting with Planning Board member Bob Marshall today in the town offices and then begin their “reconnaissance” of the village.

Their work will be a part of a draft of a proposed ordinance the Planning Board will be bringing to the public this fall for input. The intent of this note is to inform residents of this activity. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Bob Marshall at bmarshall11@myfairpoint.net or call 547-3350 after 4 p.m.
