Text of petition:

We, the undersigned, request that a Special Town Meeting be held regarding gravel and sand processing on Lot R7-28 on Forest Road, adjacent to Greenvale Cemetery. This special meeting is to correct the misimpression left at the last Town Meeting  (March 2013)that a feasibility study (for $15,600) would be done to present a future warrant article to the town about relocating the DPW center to this property and to harvest thousands of dollars of gravel and sand. Instead, the warrant article was changed (illegally in some opinions) so that the BOS moved ahead and tooksteps, absent notice to abutters, or publicizing results from the feasibility study, or presenting the whole scope and details of the project to the town for a proper, informed vote. We, the undersigned, believe this project is too complicated, potentiallyinjurious to Zephyr Lake, the cemetery, the neighborhood and the townin general to be allowed to proceed absent a town vote after careful consideration. We further request that all town work on this project and property be suspended immediately until the will of the town shall be determined.
To be voted on at Special Town Meeting:

Article 1:              To see if the town will vote to raise ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for sand and gravel supplies for the use by the Department of Public Works in the course of their normal activities. All activities to move or relocate any building and structures to R7 lot-28 on Forest Road shall cease, as will the collection and preparation of sand and gravel on this location.
